Woman Who Cries Blood May Be Suffering From Rare Condition

.

 .
May they find the help she desperately needs.
A 20-year-old from Purranque, Chile named Yaritza Oliva is experiencing an incredibly strange, disturbing symptom that looks like something you might see on Vampire Diaries, True Blood, or Twilight. Since earlier this month, she's been bleeding from her eyes several times a day. Ugghh.
She's visited her doctor but when no evidence of an infection could be
found, she was sent home with eye drops to help her contend with the "indescribable" pain. Oh maaan, my heart goes out to this poor girl!
It's one thing to be suffering from a rare, painful symptom, but it's quite another to be stuck without the care you clearly need to get to the bottom of what's causing it.
The Sun points out that Yaritza may be suffering from a very rare condition called haemolacria, which causes sufferers to produce tears containing blood. There are only three documented cases of the condition, which can be caused by a more serious illness, tumor, bacterial conjunctivitis, environmental damage, or -- get this -- potentially "high level of hormones in fertile women." Hrrrmmm. Bizarre, right? But obviously something that warrants serious investigation by an expert.
Oliva's only hope is that friends and family help raise the money she needs to see an eye doctor who could better explore the root cause. Her father Jose appeared on a local news show and pleaded, "Please put your hands over your hearts, see our situation, and help my daughter." Fingers crossed they are able to get the help they so desperately need and deserve.
